On 12 November, the Ninth Annual Conference of the United Nations Secretary-General and the AU Commission Chairperson was convened at the United Nations Secretariat in New York. This was the first Annual Conference between the UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, with the new AU Commission Chairperson, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
The Conference deliberations covered an overview of progress in the implementation of the three AU-UN cooperation frameworks, namely; the Joint Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security signed in April 2017, the Joint Framework for the Implementation of the Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development signed in January 2018, and the Joint Framework on Human Rights signed in November 2023.
