Ms. Rosine H. Sori-Coulibaly, of Burkina Faso, arrived in Bissau on 5 September 2019 as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Guinea-Bissau and the Head of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS).
Ms. Sori-Coulibaly, succeeds José Viegas Filho of Brazil, who completed his assignment on 18 May 2019, and Abdel-Fatau Musah of Ghana, who served as interim Head of UNIOGBIS until 1 September, before returning to his position as the Director for the West Africa Division in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations at UN Headquarters in New York.
Ms. Sori-Coulibaly served as Minister for Economy, Finance and Development in her home country from 2016-2019, and has over 20 years’ experience in the United Nations serving in different capacities, including as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Burundi, Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator (DSRSG/RC/HC) and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in several countries. Ms. Coulibaly-Sori brings with her a wealth of experience of over 35 years in the fields of sustainable development, humanitarian assistance, political transition, fiscal and budgetary reforms, gender equality and women’s empowerment.
