Closure of UNMIL

The United Nations Mission in Liberia was established in October 2003 to support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement and peace process, and to assist with the maintenance and restoration of law and order throughout Liberia. The mission successfully completed its mandate on 30 March 2018.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Topic: “The significance of self-esteem on the personal lives of young women and girls.”<br>Name of guests/resource persons:&nbsp; Patience Beer; Founder and Head of the organization, Single Empowerment Network Foundation.<br>DISCUSSION: The guest focused her discussion on some of the gaps that are stopping young women and girls from building their self-esteem; as well as some of the reasons why young women and girls need to build their self-esteem and personal lives;<br>Patience Beer defined Self-esteem as the reflection of a person’s over all subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth.<br>According to her, self-esteem is how you see, value, and respects yourself as a young woman or a girl.<br>She therefore urged young women and girls to always believe in themselves and always have positive outlooks of themselves; regardless of their situation or circumstances.<br>Patience said this is the way for young women and girls to build their self-esteem.</p>
